I'm very sorry for how long this post goes! I couldn't help it!
Duck Tales (Capcom 1989) - You can hate on me all you want but I used to LOVE this game! Sunny forests, icy mountains, dark caves, TRANSYLVANIA!!! ... What's not to love? The soundtrack was amazing. (Yes, I have it) Duck Tales was that perfect level of difficulty; enough to frustrate but fun enough to keep you from giving up. I still play this occasionally.
***And because of this post, I just discovered they're remastering this game to be released on modern consoles later this year!!!***
Special Mentions: Dynasty Warriors - Hack n Slash through entire armies multi-player!
Donkey Kong Country - Need I say more?
Deja Vu (NES) - Strange game... but who can deny 8-bit jazz / swing music?
|Dream Theater / Majesty|
Then they began to creep up on me... I discovered that this was FOUR musicians putting this together. Their level of talent was unlike any band I'd ever heard. Each individual riff from each instrument invaded my subconscious as I listened. I grew immune to the repulsive element in James' voice.
It took almost ten years but they consumed me. There was a span of about two years where I only listened to Dream Theater. I'm not exaggerating. Every album. Over and over. Now I'd begun picking out time signatures, or listening to songs over and over until I could.
I bought Petrucci's instructional books and CDs. I've seen the band play twice, once in ATL Georgia, once in Greenville South Carolina. I rioted internally when Portnoy left for A7x. If I have a favorite band, it's probably Dream Theater.
Special Mentions: Days of the New - We cover them too
Dave Wise - Composer for the original Donkey Kong Country soundtracks!
